Shāhnāme, written in 10th Century A.D., intended among all, to give a report of the beliefs and culture of Ancient Iranians; nevertheless, whether this report avoids any prejudgment is a matter of debate. This article compares the report of Shāhnāme about paganism, Manichaeism, Mazdaism, Zoroastrianism, Jewism, Christianity, and Islam with those narrated in Avista and Pahlavi texts, and then the findings will be discussed in detail. It seems that although the two reports are close regarding paganism and Mazdaism, they are different when speaking about Islam. Meanwhile, the other religions are placed between these two extremes
