Concepts of Pleasure and Reality in Literary Schools: Samples from Hedāyat’s Works

Author

Abstract

There are many aspects in Literary Schools which deserve a deeper investigation. One of them is to take a new look on literary schools from the perspective of pleasure and reality. Reality can be found more in our unconscious than in our conscious dimension of the mind; that is why the best examples of reality should be traced out in surrealistic works. Based on the viewpoints of Jakobson, Lacan and Žižek, literary schools can be divided into three categories of Imaginary, Symbolic and Real which respectively refer to Realism and Naturalism; Symbolism, Surrealism and Modernism; and Postmodernism. The present article, through following this perspective, searches for some samples in the works of Hedāyat.
